Fidra

The island of Fidra Is located about 5KM to the West of North Berwick in the Firth of Forth and was used as the inspiration for “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson. Now it is an RSPB nature reserve and is home to many different species including Peregrine Falcons.

Outersight have installed a single camera system here linked back to the Scottish Seabird Centre. The camera is a MIC1-300 model with an 18 times optical zoom lens which is ideal for viewing the Peregrine feasting perch and can also see the sights of Edinburgh and the Forth Rail Bridge in the distance.

The signal is transmitted the back to the SSC via an analogue microwave link operating in the 31GHz band this allows for a broadcast quality video signal audio and control signals to be transmitted.
